Kirkcaldy Bands
The Kirkcaldy Bands of the '80s

Because music like ours shouldn't die

Strathern 1

Seems amazing that bands played here, it seems very posh!

Strathern 2

I think this was the function suite. I remember seeing a rather good Ghost Train gig here in 1985.

Victoria Hotel

Did bands play here? Victoria Hotel on Victoria Road.

Windsor Hotel

The Windsor Hotel on Victoria Road. This became a venue in the late 80's and early 90's. The hotel was called The Birksgate before, and this is historic for me as being the first place I ever stayed the night in Kirkcaldy, in March of 1976. I remember going to see a Who Cares? gig here in 1988.

Anthonys

Can this really be where Anthony's was? A great Kirkcaldy venue from the late '80's and early 90's, now been demolished and replaced by an old people's home. The pictures of the Amused gigging were taken here in 1990.

Station Hotel

To continue the old people's homes theme....
This is the Station Hotel, near the Station. This place didn't feature large in my life as a venue, but I think it was an important venue in the late '70's. It was nice and near my flat at 2 Sang Place though and we used to go in the public bar a lot. Tenants lager, dry roasted peanuts and hearing Kate Bush's "Running up that Hill" evokes a whole era for me.

Station Hotel sign

You can see where the sign was though. Now an old people's home.
